Why Doesn’t our Skin like Being Stuck Indoors?

Did you think that working from home meant super glowy skin? After all, you are indoors and thus shielded from pollution. But in reality, is your skin dull and dry AF? Book a La Cozy Consultation with us to get to know how to adapt your skincare regime when WFH.

But seriously, why doesn’t our skin like being stuck indoors?

There are many factors that can make your skin more dry when working indoors. The first is the artificial environment of your house - aka the heating. Heating is a nightmare for our skin, as it dehydrates and can even compromise the bilayer structure of the barrier function. What happens is that heating systems are mostly dry air and dry air is an enemy for the skin as it sucks the moisture right out! High temperatures and low humidity, like what we find in our homes right now, are a very bad combination for the skin!

So what should you do? Just because you are working from home, does not mean that you need to pause your skincare regime! Most of us are guilty of skipping out on our morning regime, when actually it is essential to protect our skin indoors. Make sure to have a regular skin routine, or carry on with your normal protective regime in the morning! Yes, protective - Megan got a sunburn while being inside if that could be a motivation for you. If you feel overwhelmed with your products and a bit lost with your skin, make sure to book our at-home consultation! Not only do we restructure your skincare regime and make sure your barrier function is at the top of its game, but we will also design your “at-home facial”.
