WFH Profile 2: The Wine Enthusiast

The Wine Enthusiast

Monday, Wednesday or Saturday, all the days of the week have become similar! Your quarantine buddies are the bottles of wine that you kept for your dinner parties. It all started with a glass of red wine on the weekend that became a daily glass of RosĂ© - because the current weather is a summer reminder, don’t worry we know it’s not your fault. Now that you master the drinking, you want to know more about the wine itself; after all, quarantine also means learning something new. You started a Wine Masterclass and created a mini wine cellar at home (basically a mini shelf that you stock underneath your kitchen skin), you became a Wine Enthusiast.

PROS
  • We have all heard that red wine has some anti-aging benefits and can be beneficial for our overall health. In fact, red wine contains resveratrol powerful antioxidants that can help us fight free radicals. Unfortunately, the evidence behind this statement is very low, but the good news is that a glass of wine per day should be ok for our overall health

  • Stress-free. Having said that, a glass of wine can still help us to decompress from a long day and alleviate our COVID-19 anxiety levels (in moderation of course)!

CONS
  • Don’t forget that wine is still an alcoholic beverage and therefore can be super dehydrating to the skin. In fact, it is diuretic, which can cause dehydration and dullness of the skin. Therefore, make sure to boost your hydration levels internally, but also externally! Switch that morning coffee for a herbal or green tea (if possible, we won’t blame you) and try to drink at least 2L of water per day. Skin wise, hydration masks particularly an evening hydrating treatment can be a game-changer too.

  • Just link eating or drinking don’t forget also that our skin is the last in line to get all the nutrients we feed our body. Therefore, the antioxidants present in wine are less likely to benefit your skin - so don’t take it as your “antioxidant” for the day and try to load up on fruits and vegetables. Topically, invest in a good Vitamin C serum.
