The 'conscious beauty diet' has nothing to do with what you eat.

The 'conscious beauty diet' has nothing to do with what you eat.

CONSCIOUS BEAUTY DIET

Nope, this trend is not about dieting to get glowing skin (that is very 2018!). This trend is right up our street, and is all about streamlining your beauty skincare regime. This trend not only has made its way to the top due to the growing awareness of waste, but also was born out of the need to slow down product usage by using simple targeted products to respond to skin needs. FYI, more than a quarter of British women have reduced the number of their facial skincare products! We are here for that!

It’s all about the ‘less-but-better’ attitude, which (proudly) we are totally embracing here at Lion/ne! In fact, we simplify your bathroom shelfie by curating products & ingredients that work for YOUR skin. Not to mention helping you shift your skincare attitude and become more independent when shopping for skincare. Our question: Who’s ready for mindful minimalism?

CONSCIOUS BEAUTY DIET - THE ARGUMENTS FOR

  • Sustainability: The fewer products you have on your bathroom shelf, the happier the environment will be. But that doesn’t mean that your skin will suffer! On the contrary, the skin will get more of the vitamins & nutrients when skincare is targeted.

  • The Skin’s Activity: There is a theory that says the more you apply moisture, the lazier your skin will get. This condition has been coined as ‘skin obesity’. In fact, when applying moisturizers the skin can get confused about the amount of oils it has, so it stops producing more oils and moisture on its own, which results in skin that is drier.

  • The Skin’s Health: Over-using skincare products and mixing different types of ingredients that don’t work well together (cough cough retinol & chemical exfoliants) can actually compromise your skin’s barrier function. Doing too much can enhance or even cause skin conditions like inflammation, eczema, rosacea, acne, dryness and so on...

CONSCIOUS BEAUTY DIET - THE ARGUMENTS AGAINST

  • No, we don’t think that your moisturizer makes your skin ‘obese’ (also, we don’t know how we feel about this description). It really depends on the product, on your skin, and your overall skincare regime. These 3 different factors will have an influence on your skin’s health. So make sure to know your skin needs before putting your skin on a ‘diet’.

  • Multifunction products are encouraged to put your skin on diet to get more from less. However, it is essential to read the ingredient list of these ‘miracle’ products. Sometimes their formulations can be ‘too much’ for the skin. Don’t forget that mixing the wrong ingredients can happen when using too many different products or the wrong formulations!

BRANDS THAT ARE EMBRACING THAT MOVEMENT

  • Yours truly, thank you very much! At Lion/ne we simplify your bathroom shelfie by curating products & ingredients that work for YOUR skin. Not to mention, we help you embrace this new attitude by making you more empowered and independent when shopping for beauty!

  • Mirai Clinical is discontinuing products. This is because their hero product Skin Balancing Sugar Oil with squalene as the main ingredient is delivering all that it needs for the skin.

  • Allies of Skin: They have different multi-functional products all packed with super-stable and powerful ingredients to make sure that your skin gets all the nutrients needed.
