The best overnight skincare products

The best overnight skincare products

Beauty sleep isn’t a myth. In fact, we cover everything you need to know about skin and sleep over here. Basically, night time is when skin enters regeneration mode, so plying it with nourishing and stimulating ingredients can optimise the recovery process. Better still, skin is slightly warmer at night, so it finds it way easier to absorb all the topical products you slather on before you climb into bed.

That’s why most (if not all) Lion/ne approved skincare regimes (click here to find out how to build your own) contain PM-specific formulas to bank in on all the hard work skin puts in while you sleep.

To get you ahead of the game, our pro Skin Mentors share the overnight skincare products they personally love.

Lion/ne co-founder Megan is a fan of this water-gel formula. It contains gentle PHAs and NMFs (natural moisturising factors) to slowly exfoliate, increase cell turnover and also boost skin moisture levels.

"This is great for skin that gets unusual breakouts," says Lion/ne Skin Mentor Karolina Jensen. "It’s definitely an investment, but one tube lasts a good while since you wouldn’t use it every single night. My skin always looks super glowy the next morning and over time, it helps with blemishes and to diminish the appearance of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, too. The smell is a bit strange (it has no added fragrance) and I find it quite sticky, but I don’t mind that since I only use it in the evenings. You really see results from it."

This night cream formula is a favourite of Skin Mentor Vitalia Roselli. "It is so creamy and soft, contains carrot oil (which is rich in vitamin A) and hazelnut peptide and great for the night time, especially for the normal/dry/ageing skin."

Only available in the US, Vitalia also loves this product. "It contains chebula (a herb used in Ayurvedic preparations, proven to diminish glycation process), amino acids, essential fatty acids, enzymes, magnesium, niacinamide and cupaçu butter. It's quite rich and has a botanical smell that's not too intense though (there's no perfume added). It can be used as a sleeping mask a couple of times during the week."

Skin Mentor Caroline Campbell loves a good sleeping mask. "I always wake up feeling extra hydrated and glowy with a mask rather than a moisturizer at night, especially during the winter," she explains. "I have extremely dry skin so I love this product. I know, it’s an influencer brand, but in my opinion, it WORKS! I have also heard this is okay for those prone to breakouts as it.does not clog pores." Hearing all the good reviews, even Skin Mentor Raj is considering trying it out as it starts to get colder overnight.
