Does your skin feel like a rollercoaster 🎢 with breakouts coming and going as often as the weather in London changes 🤷🏻♀️?
Let’s talk about something that it seems like everyone is battling right now: breakouts . Of the online consultations we have done since lockdown began (thank you again for your support it means the world ) 84% of our clients were concerned about unusual breakouts - meaning they tend to come and go. At Lion/ne, we define this up & down as the classic skin “roller coaster”. So why are so many people (of all ages) having this issue and how can you take control of your skin?
Why? Because unusual breakouts can be triggered by so many different things. When we say “many” this means that it can be extremely difficult to find the root of the problem. In fact, they come from a complex cycle of essentially independent factors that then impact one another. We like to explain this to our clients with a ‘Handbag Metaphor’.
Imagine your getting ready to leave the house and you put your wallet, water bottle, SPF Mist (yes, it is essential), and your other daily necessities in. All of a sudden, your bag is going to start to feel very heavy on your shoulders, which will result in inflammation (or annoyance - why do I have to put my life in a bag?). Well, it is exactly the same as the skin’s breakouts. Imagine you don’t have the appropriate skincare regime, you’re about to have your period, your stress levels are at their peak due to COVID/the amount of work you have to do, and on top of that you are using a phone that hasn’t been disinfected for a while (or never). All of these factors will result in skin’s inflammation. For some, skin conditions like Rosacea may appear (megs we feel you), while for others the result will be breakouts! This is because the skin will be off-balance and vulnerable to infection.
We are not saying you must avoid bad skincare products, stress, and hormone imbalances all together in order to achieve balance, as this is impossible. However, there is a way to be more comprehensive with our approach. We can do this by listening to our skin and trying to reduce inflammation, thus calming it down. With our ‘The Solution Online’ consultation, not only will we begin to define your skin triggers, but we also give lifestyle recommendations, tips & tricks, and most importantly a skincare regime suited to your needs - helping you maintain healthy skin.
