There’s no denying that Lion/ne is all about efficacious skincare. In fact, our business is built on the very ethos that the best skin decisions are made through knowledge, not hype, and that all products that find their way into your bathroom cabinet should be entirely deserving of their place there.
But that doesn’t mean that skincare should be entirely utilitarian and functional; skincare is also a ritual, a moment we take for ourselves to relax and show our skin some deserved TLC.
It’s a topic we cover on this week’s episode of The Skinterview, with Kate Roath, founder of meditation-meets-skincare brand Wild Source (you can listen to that here), but it got us thinking: which products do we love for their efficacy but also their experience? Megan and Ksenia share their favourite ritualistic skincare items below.
Ksenia loves...
“I love how it smells! I use it post-Sunday spa mask to really end my ritual on a good note. I apply it by massaging it directly to my skin for at least one minute and it helps to increase the blood flow, absorb the benefits of the essential oils present in the product and helps me feel ready for the week ahead.”
“Muslin cloths may be very banal and basic but using them at night to remove the city grime, pollution, make-up and sunscreen on my skin is so satisfying. I have the feeling it really changes my mood from working mode to "back at home". My favourites are the ones from de Mamiel as they’re double sided.”
“I received this as a gift and to be honest, I would never buy it for myself due to its crazy price. I leave it in the fridge and sometimes – when I remember that I have it – I use it in the morning on my skin after cleansing it helps to gently awaken my skin, increase blood circulation and really give me a little kick for the start of the day.”
Megan loves...
“Sadly I can't go too crazy with masks because my rosacea would freak out, but what I do love to do is an oil or balm cleanse as an additional step. My favourite is the Inkey List’s because it is a very affordable price, so I feel like I can use quite a bit and so I will take it all the way down to the neck and chest.”
“I used to use this entire line years ago and this is the one product that I still have, so it kind of takes me back to a happy time in my life so I really love that one.”
“This was gifted to us prior to our podcast recording with the brand, and I have to say I think I would splurge for this one myself – it is a total treat.”
