After two years of restricted fun, it seems we’re well and truly making up for it this summer, with a jam-packed schedule full of exciting parties, weddings and other celebrations. But the question – and one our Skin Mentos get asked all the time – is: how do you prepare your skin for a big event? Well, that depends on how long you’ve got!
Three months to go…
It’s not too late to get your skin regime on track with a skincare consultation (aka Holistic Skin Session) with one of our pro Mentors. The key to getting the glow on the big day is all the time, care and effort you put in during the lead up, and your Skin Mentor will help you build a routine that’s right for you and your skin goals. The more time you give it, the better.
One month...
Book a follow-up consultation. As your skin goes through the same kind of mood swings you do, now’s a great chance to catch up with your Skin Mentor to look at how it's behaving in real time, and make any necessary adjustments to your routine ahead of the big event. They’ll also be able to recommend the best glow boosters for your skin to use in the run up.
Three weeks...
Now’s your chance to book in for a pro treatment. Chemical peels or mild resurfacing treatments are great at boosting the skin’s radiance, but can cause irritation, so you don’t want to use them any closer to the big day than this. Speak to your Skin Mentor about finding the right peel or treatment for you.
A week...
At-home peels and exfoliants are much milder than those found in a clinic, so you can use a mild exfoliating mask seven days before the event. But don’t forget to follow up with a hydrating mask. This duo will give your skin that little pick-me-up it needs.
3 days...
No more stimulating products for you, so that means cut back on the vitamin C, retinol and chemical exfoliants to make sure your skin is super zen for the big day.
A few hours...
The event is tonight?! No stress. Now’s the chance to use any mask that will enhance your glowing complexion and prep your skin for make-up would be amazing. Stick to very, very gentle formulations, and things that you have tried and tested many times. Not sure what to use? Don’t forget you can message your Skin Mentor anytime!
