Antioxidant
Ubiquinone
Category: CoEnzyme Q10
Type: Ingredient
Definition: An endogenously synthesized lipid-soluble antioxidant that is extremely important for cellular energy production. It is a naturally occurring molecule that diminishes with age due to intrinsic (natural ageing) as well as extrinsic factors (sun, stress etc). Why? Because Q10 is found in living cells, but also on the skin surface lipids directly exposed to UV light and air pollution.
There are theories that state it may suppress UV-light-induced oxidative stress in skin cells. It is also believed to accelerate the production of collagen within skin & stimulate biosynthesis of hyaluronic acid.
