Let's Have a Look

Benefits

  • Unlike many other chemical sunscreens, it is highly stable
  • Used as a photo stabiliser rather than a proper sunscreen agent, as it can effectively protect formulas from UV damage.

Danger

  • Plays a major role in the deterioration of coral reefs and the oceans.
  • Beauty products containing this ingredient have already been banned in Hawaii, Key West in Florida, some places in Mexico, in the Philippines and Palau!

Hint

The problem is that you want sunscreens on the top of your skin and not in your bloodstream, so for BP-3 this is a problem. In fact, it absorbs so well that 4 hours after application of a sunscreen product with BP-3, it can be detected in urine.
